Summary Pg. 1-77
The Search for
WondLa is a
fantasy book. In the beginning, Eva Nine was lying on the ground in the
forest. She was dying because she was bitten by a snake, which turning out to
be a test in the Sanctuary.
She had never been out of the Sanctuary for twelve years (which is
all of her life). She lived with a robot called Muthr. Muthr always told her
that she was special and there's no other like her. But Eva wanted to go to the
surface. On that night, she cut herself with a knife while cooking. She went to
the supply room to look for a medical sticker, and then she found the secret
door. Then she remember than Muthr told her when she was five years old that
the door was a malfunctioning door that had been sealed off long before Eva
Nine was born. She had forgotten about it until now. She also remember when she
was eight years old, Eva found a cryptic code in her dresser. It said,
"CP01: OMNICSIENT: FLOOR PLAN."
Suddenly on that night there was suddenly intruders who broke in
and cause a sudden attack on their Sanctuary. In the midst of the attack Eva
was forced to flee her home and leave Muthr. Having nowhere to run, she goes up
towards the surface, but then finds that there were also intruders on the
surface. Knowing not what to do she frantically runs to any direction, not
knowing where she was going. As she hid from the intruders, the sun came up,
having to see the sun for the first time she thought that she would burn from
the heat.
As she explored this so called "surface" which she had
only seen in holograms, it was totally different from what she has seen in the
holograms. Such as things she thought that were trees, weren't trees and rocks
that weren't rocks, but walking creatures that her Omnipod could not even identify.
As she was following the Omnipod's directions she then came across
another Sanctuary. But then in that Sanctuary, she found it was abandoned but
as to her surprise, she found that there was one creature living inside the
Sanctuary! Not understanding the strange creature's language she knew not what
he was saying. Arguing with each other, though not even understanding each
other's words, they just continued arguing, until she and the creature was
knocked them out and captured them.
